Music Perception and Cognition

Listening collection

Listening Examples (to be presented in class each week)

In class, present to us music in one of these catagories (be prepared to discuss it also):

1. Music you love. Tell us why you love it, in terms of cognition/perception/analysis if you can. This is not so easy to do. How accurately can you explain your reaction to this music?

2. Music you hate. Music that would cause you to move to the other side of a restaurant to get away from it.
Can you eloquently tell us why you hate it? There can be significant cultural (as opposed to cognitive) aspects to this question.

3. Music that is simply interesting. For example, contains the most complex rhythm you can find, or some other notable feature. We will try to figure it out.

We can have up to 3 people per class. These are the available slots:

SEPT 15 -- Sam

SEPT 22 -- Matheus

SEPT 29 -- Kevin

OCT 6 -- Sean
